Bavarian Forest national park

The Bavarian Forest national park is Germany's oldest national park. And not only that: at over 24,000 hectares it is also impressively large. Together with the Šumava (Bohemian Forest) national park in the Czech Republic it is the largest coherent protected forest area in Central Europe. The park is easy to reach via Regensburg and Passau, which are well connected to the network of German Rail (DB). Thanks to its philosophy of 'just letting Nature be Nature', the park has become home to a unique diversity of species. For example rare animals such as the lynx, the otter and the capercailzie are indigenous here. Apart from the extensive forest areas, your customers can also climb peaks with fascinating outlooks, explore mysterious moors and discover pristine mountain streams and lakes. And that gives them many possibilities for holiday experiences in harmony with Nature at any time of the year.

Here are some ideas about how your customers can discover the national park

On foot

320 kilometres of well signposted hiking trails take your customers through the national park in all directions. If they feel like it they can go on a guided tour – for example to the peaks of the national park mountains Rachel and Lusen.
