How to get to Bavaria: an overview of the airports
Airports in Bavaria
This international airport, Germany's second-largest, is located 28.5 kilometres north-east of the state capital. Some 100 airlines land here, coming from 70 countries and a total of 240 destinations in Germany, Europe and the world at large. Munich Airport is Europe's only 5-star airport. According to Skytrax, the world's leading international rating organisation for the aviation industry, Munich has ranked among the ten best airports worldwide for several years now.
Nuremberg international airport is Bavaria's second-largest. It is situated some seven kilometres north of Nuremberg and two hours north of Munich by car. Airlines from some 50 destinations in Germany and Europe fly to Nuremberg. Planes landing there come especially from touristic destinations on the Mediterranean, on the Canary Islands, and in Egypt.
The smallest of Bavaria's commercial airports is 38 kilometres from Memmingen and 110 kilometres from Munich. Above all, airlines fly to Memmingen from the Mediterranean and the Balkan Peninsula. Flights to and from Memmingen are mostly somewhat more favourably priced than flights to and from Munich.
