Keeping active, sensing Nature around you, breathing the fresh air – for many people, that is simply part of an enjoyable holiday. No wonder! After all, that is the best recipe for leaving the mundaneness of everyday life behind you and unwinding. We've put together here a selection of the activities your customers can experience in Bavaria.

1 Hiking

There's not really any need to mention the fact that Bavaria is a dream destination for hikers: where else will your customers find Nature so rich in diversity? To suit personal preferences and fitness, day trips and tours can be put together – and hikers always have the Bavarian mountains for company, either as an enchanting panorama or as a concrete challenge for all those who like being active outdoors. Particular highlights for hikers: the Goldsteig ('Gold Trail') in the Bavarian Wald, awarded a prize by 'Top Trails of Germany', the panoramic trail Liebliches Taubertal in Franconia, the Zugspitz Region with a 1,200-kilometre network of hiking trails, and the Frankenwald, Germany's first 'quality hiking region'.

2 Mountain biking

Trails as far as the eye can see, embedded in a breathtaking natural environment: welcome to mountain biking in Bavaria! There's many a steep climb your customers won't regret. After all, they'll be rewarded with the most beautiful views and some fast descents. And those who prefer to take things a little more slowly will find other suitable routes in Bavaria's regions. Particularly toll: the cycle pilgrimage routes in Upper Franconia, bike tours around the Walchensee (Lake Walchen) in the Alpenwelt Karwendel, mountain biking around Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate, or simply following the Danube by bike.

3 Enjoyable cycling

So your customers prefer an enjoyable ride to the challenges of mountain biking? No problem! Attractive, mostly flat routes run through Bavaria's valleys, around lakes and along the major waterways. Many of them are also suitable for families with children and invite them to embark on lengthier cycling tours or one-day excursions. Highlights for cyclists: the Altmühl Valley cycle path, the cycle pilgrimage route and the Danube cycle path.

4 Sailing, surfing & SUP

No coastline of its own, but rivers, streams and lakes in abundance: that means that Bavaria too is an eldorado for lovers of water sports! Your customers can explore clear bodies of water with a mountain panorama, either sailing, SUP or even surfing, and will also find sailing and surfing schools in many locations. Beginners or experts, it's all the more pleasant to follow that excursion on the water with a stopover in one of those restaurants or beer gardens that are so typical of Bavaria! A particularly attractive destination for surfers and kite surfers is the Grosse Alpsee near Immenstadt in the Allgäu.

5 Water-skiing & wakeboarding

For all fans of the refreshment a holiday on the water can provide, Bavaria provides some options for going just that little bit faster: on water-skis or a wakeboard, the nature adventure is combined with that adrenalin kick that speed and sporting challenge provide. Could this perhaps be just the right tip for your more venturesome customers? And here's another one, for wakeboarders: the WakePark Thulba in the Thulba Valley. It's suitable for both pros and beginners.

6 Canoe, kayak & Co.

Water sport has many faces! And the peaceful or wild flow of rivers and streams can be every bit as fascinating as the vastness of a lake. Those wishing to let themselves be carried along by that flow will find the right vehicle in the form of a canoe or kayak. Whether they go on their own initiative or with one of the many professional tour operators – your customers will find their personal river happiness in all the regions! Paddling on the Altmühl is nice for families. Your venturesome customers will get their money's worth with a rafting trip on the Wilde Rodach.

7 Cross-country skiing & snowshoeing

In the winter season, Bavaria has some wonderfully chilled alternatives to downhill skiing: for example, what about a session of cross-country skiing on extremely well prepared tracks that run through the snowy wonderland? Or a snowshoe hike, on which your customers can immerse themselves in the tranquillity of the mountains? In the Allgäuer Alps, indeed, there are even tours on offer that take place by the light of the moon – guaranteed to be an unforgettable experience! And another thing that is particularly recommendable: cross-country skiing at the Tegernsee with a lake view, and full-moon snowshoe hiking in the Alps.

8 Skiing & snowboarding

Skiing in Bavaria: that obviously puts one in mind of the Alps! And your customers will indeed find innumerable skiing regions for all kinds of interest here. But did you know that the north and the east of Bavaria also have many family-friendly winter sport regions to offer? Beginners get their money's worth here just as much as enthusiastic skiers and ski tourers who feel attached to Nature. Particularly beautiful: the Winklmoosalm skiiing area in Reit im Winkl, skiing in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the family winterland of Mitterdorf.
