Weingut Fürst: Das milde Klima und die eisenhaltigen Böden der Region eignen sich besonders für Rotwein
A guest in the Franconian wine country

The Franconian wine country with its dreamy landscapes, little wine-growing villages and mediaeval towns and cities such as Würzburg and Karlstadt, lies between the Spessart, the Rhön, the Steigerwald and the lovely Tauber Valley. On the sun-kissed slopes, Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner and other types of vine ripen, and their fruits are processed into Franconian wine after the vintage in the autumn. By the way, that's how it has been for centuries; and it is also traditionally bottled here in a bocksbeutel, which has a bellied form to it.

Franconian Wine

These splendid wines can be tasted on wine-growing estates and in wine stores, restaurants and various kinds of wine tavern. And if your customers would like to try out everything the Franconian wine country has to offer, recommend them to go for an overnight stay on one of the region's traditional wine-growing estates. Perhaps even during the vintage itself? And then there are the wine festivals, celebrated in Franconia from March to November. Almost every village has a festival of its own, at which the wine growers serve their own home-made products. The wine festival in the baroque court garden at Castell, for example, is full of atmosphere.

But of course this beautiful area can also be explored on the visitor's own initiative. The selection of cycle tours and walks is large! Particularly beautiful: the Main cycle path, which takes you past charming wine-growing villages, castles and gardens and, in Würzburg, even a UNESCO World Heritage site, with the vineyards right in front of your nose the whole time!
