Silvia Beyer runs the first Alpine mountain hut serving only vegetarian dishes.
So cheesy - high up the mountain top
In fact, many of the typical Allgäu dishes contain no meat. Instead of Schnitzel and cold meats, the menu of the Hündeleskopfhütte offers cheese spätzle and vegan zucchini lasagne. The cabin itself is as pretty as a postcard. The undulating East Allgäu glacier landscape stretches away at its feet. At the end of May 2015, Silvia – who was born in Nesselwang and is a member of the German Vegetarian Association – took on the lease of the ancient cabin at 1,180 m and turned her dream into a reality: She opened the first vegetarian mountain cabin in the Alps.
Silvia's Bavarian experience
A hut too good to be true
Sitting on the terrace, the views of the Allgäu Alps and mighty Zugspitze are breathtakingly gorgeous and the food – think cheese spätzle or vegan zucchini lasagne – is divine. And host Silvia and her mother might even break out in some impromptu yodeling!
Silvia's insider tip
Exploring our beautiful Allgäu region on a hike, followed by unwinding at the Königliche Kristall Therme spa in Schwangau – the perfect combination!
